My name is Brendan Miller and I am a lawyer in London.
The intention behind this website is to provide a bit of insight into who I am and my qualifications, while also attempting to assist junior and foreign qualified lawyers with preparing for qualification in England and Wales.
I am a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales as well as an Attorney in South Africa and Lesotho.
As a lawyer who is qualified in three jurisdictions and has made the move to a new country I am hoping to give you more of an insight into my background and the journey I have taken so far.
My background
Commercial Law
I spent one year as a candidate attorney, the equivalent of a trainee solicitor in the UK, in the Commercial Department at Webbers Attorneys in South Africa.
Once I qualified as an Attorney I practised for two and a half years. During those two and a half years I was admitted as an Attorney in the Kingdom of Lesotho.
I was fortunate enough to be exposed to many market leading transactions and clients during my time practising as a commercial law Attorney.
Once admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales I began working in a boutique Commercial Law firm, where I was fortunate enough to practise commercial law again.
Corporate Law
There is a large amount of overlap between commercial law and corporate law.
Having practised as a commercial law Attorney I was exposed to a number of corporate law transactions.
Since qualifying as a Solicitor in the United Kingdom, I have been able to gain far more experience handling corporate transactions and developing my knowledge of corporate law.
